The Richmond Residence is currently under construction. Upon completion, it will feature a main residence, bunkhouse guest home, carport, and swimming pool. It has a sprawling southern view of the Berkshire mountain landscape.
It is believed to feature the first and only green roof in the Berkshires. The passive design of the home includes four geothermal heating and cooling wells, roof mounted solar panels, and a highly insulated exterior envelope. Completion is expected in the Spring of 2018.
The Great Barrington Mixed Use Project features the complete renovation of an existing commercial and office use building in Downtown Great Barrington.
The existing building will be extensively renovated in order to provide multiple one and two bedroom apartments and a resident only roof patio on the upper levels. The street level will be reorganized into multiple retail/commercial units.
In the rear portion of the property, a 9,000 sq.ft. addition will be constructed in order to provide additional retail units along an existing alley. The upper levels will provide additional one and two bedroom apartments.
The proposed residential apartments will be constructed to meet Energy Star requirements. Their design implements the most up to date code requirements for energy efficiency, exterior envelope, air tightness, and sound isolation.
The project is expected to be completed in Early 2018.
Pittsfield YMCA Renovation
Renovation - In Development
The goal of the proposed renovation to the existing Berkshire Family YMCA in Pittsfield is the modernization of the current fitness center. The addition portion of the building, originally constructed in the 1980's, does not meet the specific needs of a modern fitness environment.
The original building lacks natural lighting throughout. The inhabitants of Downtown Pittsfield are unaware of the activity occurring behind its masonry walls. By introducing large scale windows throughout the facade, the buildings user's and the local community will be able to interact. The physical activity of the existing swimming pool and proposed basketball court and elevated running track will be on display to the street and its surrounding mixed use buildings. This will energize an area that typically feels disconnected and isolated to the passerby. The additional light and energy created by this building would be an upgrade for the Pittsfield Downtown.
A roof terrace is also proposed for the project. This space would be available to rent by the various institution of the surrounding area. Views from the rooftop feature the picturesque views of the Berkshire Scenic Mountains and Downtown.
Various upgrades to the building, included HVAC, energy efficiency, fire protection, and accessibly are proposed.
This project is currently in development with hopes of entering the Design Development phase shortly. All designs and renderings were produced by SK Design Group.
